Yoga is a mind and body practice. There are various types of yoga which incorporate different poses, breathing techniques and meditation. mat

Matwork Pilates allows us to utilize our own bodies and additional props to achieve alignment, stability and mobility. Matwork involves you, the mat and sometimes exercise props.

reformer

A Reformer is a type of Pilates apparatus which allows for low impact strengthening that can be tailored to a person’s individual needs and abilities. This versatile machine allows us to challenge and target all of the muscles in the body to help achieve optimal alignment, stability and mobility.

This class is taught by a certified Pilates Reformer instructor who will place an emphasis on proper form and safe use of the machine. We recommend trying a mat work class prior to trying a reformer class, however, it is not mandatory and your instructor will help you get acquainted with the reformer during your first class!

Looking for a private group class? We offer single session private groups at a rate of $160.00 plus tax per group.

FAQ

  • No! Our classes focus on full body strength and length to achieve optimal alignment but this does not mean you need to be flexible to participate. Each class can be adjusted to your needs and abilities. Your instructor will provide many different variations of exercises for different ability levels.

  • Pilates and yoga both focus on breathing and mindful movement; however, yoga engages in longer holds/stretches and incorporates meditation, whereas Pilates exercises focus on the core systems for strength and stability. Pilates classes can also include machines such as the reformer or stability chair.

  • Although previous Pilates experience is a bonus it is not mandatory! We all have to start somewhere. We always encourage you to engage in a few mat work classes first to build a foundation and understanding of Pilates terms and foundation exercises, but each reformer class can be modified to your personal needs and experience levels.

  • No! We prefer bare feet or grip socks! We also have mats for our participants but you are always welcome to bring your own if you wish!
